The 2020 ADS Convention and Trade Show: Texas

The 2020 Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS) Convention and Trade Show, along with Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week 20, was showcased in January 2020 at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.

The Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS) is the world’s leading diesel industry trade association, whose mission is to “provide programs and services to its members that will assist them in achieving success in the operation of their businesses in the diesel industry throughout the world” (ADS, 2020).

Three of our colleagues at Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd., Paul Sherbern, Anthony Connor and Lewis Brown (pictured below, left-right), travelled to Grapevine, Texas to attend. Their booth, number 741, exhibited top-of-the-range products from Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd. These products included:

  • S350 Armature Measuring Tool: a digital dial gauge holder kit for measuring the ball bearing stroke on all Bosch common rail injectors. The kit includes 17mm & 19mm adaptors, armature stroke test unit, adaptor cables, digital dial indicator and pin.
  • S800 Blind Lift Calibrator: a compact, easy to use device with a dynamic blind lift calibrator feature. A must-have device for diesel workshops repairing Continental/ VDO common rail injectors. Test features include: Resistance & Capacitance, Insulation Check, Blind Lift Calibration, and Actuator Stroke.
  • S300-1 Common Rail Injector Tester: designed to test all common rail injectors. The kit is designed for garages to make an initial assessment and determine which injectors need to be repaired.

The 2020 ADS Convention and Trade Show consisted of technical seminars, delivered by reputable companies within the diesel industry, such as DENSO and Delphi Technologies, who Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd are official distributors. The event also consisted of committee meetings and trade shows. Additionally, convention sessions were instructed by high profile individuals, such as a presentation on ‘Trade Shows 101’ by Warren Stewart, Sales Manager at Industrial Diesel, Inc., and a presentation on ‘Growing and Keeping Your Best Assets: People’, delivered by Homer Hogg, Director of Technical Service at Travel Centers America.

Moreover, the Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week 20 offered opportunity and learning tutorials, sponsor and organiser meetings, and lectures presented on areas such as ‘Delivering Efficient Solutions’ by Rich Ferguson, an American Creative Consultant, and ‘What Connected Service Management Means for Your Customers?’ by Rob Bradenham, from Decisive. Inc.

Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd believe that participating in leading trade events, such as The 2020 Association of Diesel Specialists (ADS) Convention and Trade Show, can help us to strengthen our knowledge and values in “embracing current and future technologies, meeting market-led challenges with innovation and intellect” and, fundamentally, “supplying the market with quality, cost-effective platforms to test and service modern diesel engine components” (Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd, 2020).
