Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd is one of the world’s leading aftermarket suppliers of diesel fuel injection. We have over 75 years of experience in the diesel fuel injection industry and distribute to more than 100 countries worldwide.
We are authorised distributors for Delphi Technologies, Bosch, Denso, Perkins, Continental, DISA, Stanadyne, Yanmar, Robiel, VDO and proud members of Temot and the SMMT. Our product range covers automotive, plant, industrial, rail, and marine applications. We also manufacture our own range of Diesel fuel injection test equipment and our machines are serviced worldwide.
Merlin Diesel Systems operate from four locations: our headquarters in Preston, Lancashire; Halifax, Yorkshire; Harrow, London and Shanghai, China; operating remanufacturing facilities out of all three UK sites.
The recent expansion of our Preston HQ boasts an impressive 7,110 square metres for the distribution, test equipment, and workshop facilities, and holds over £21million worth of stock.
Merlin’s commitment and investments into improving services and infrastructure clearly demonstrate the continual drive to advance in the diesel fuel industry.

History
Discovering Diesel Excellence since 1947
Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd has been at the forefront of aftermarket diesel fuel injection for over 75 years – but how did Merlin begin?
The Beginning
The ‘Merlin’ company was established in 1947 by engineers C.T Rhodes of Halifax, West Yorkshire to specialise in diesel fuel injection, test equipment, servicing, and machinery.
Some of our early products included the ‘Merlin Fuel Injection Service Master’, which was one of the first machines on the market to enable the full service of fuel injection nozzles and needles, and the ‘Merlin Calimaster’, a diesel fuel pump calibrator for servicing a complete range of pumps, including A, B, N, and Z types.
Growing Business: Trade Shows
Our first Engineering, Marine & Welding Exhibition was attended at Earl’s Court, London in October 1951. This would begin our company’s frequent attendance at the show for twenty years, ranging from ‘Motor Shows’ and ‘Commercial Motor Shows’ from 1951 to 1971.
Over the years, we have continued to exhibit at many major tradeshows all over the globe, including: ADS, Automechanika, Mechanex, Asia Pacific Maritime, Seatrade Maritime, Mechanex, and ReMaTec RAI.
Making Changes
In 1960, our company became ‘Merlin International Engineers Ltd’ to showcase global recognition for the manufacturing of test benches and accessories. Our company further began catering for the testing and calibration of diesel fuel injection equipment for automotive, rail, marine, and plant purposes.
Finally, Merlin was purchased by current Director and Chairman, Ken Bramley, and previous Financial Director, Johnathon Chaytor in 1991 and was rebranded in 2001 as the ‘Merlin Diesel Systems Ltd’ we know today. The early 2000s meant the introduction of O.E repair parts, a remanufacturing workshop, filtration, and tooling to complement the existing test equipment range.
In 2010, we moved to our purpose-built facility in Preston, Lancashire, which is where our HQ is based today. Our company has since expanded into two further branches: London Branch and China Branch, as well as having acquired Feather Diesel of Halifax to expand our diesel service capabilities further.
